Born in Barcelona in 1979, Pau Casan studied piano with Carme Agustí in the Academia Marshall, with María Drets, and finished his degree with Professor Miquel Farré in the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona, being awarded the Honorable Mention at the highest level. He has taken master’s classes with Paul Badura-Skoda, Alícia de Larrocha, Joaquín Nin-Culmell and many others. Mr. Casan has been awarded the 3rd Prize in the 33º Catalan Young Pianists Competition and the 1st Prize in the Joan Massià Competition. He has also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Piano Performance with Gordon Fergus-Thompson and a PG Dip Advanced Course in Piano Accompaniment with Roger Vignoles and Susie Allan at the Royal College of Music of London.
Mr. Casan has performed in Spain, France, Portugal, Denmark and Colombia as an accompanist, and in Spain, the UK and in Colombia as a soloist, taking part in the 2004 International Piano Festival of Bucaramanga (Colombia) as a member of the Jury of its Piano Competition.
He has been the rehearsal accompanist for numerous choruses, including the Cor Madrigal and the Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Musica with which he prepared Brahms’s Requiem with Salvador Mas and Mozart’s Requiem with Robert King.
He has played extensively with singers and instrumentalists, forming a well established Duo with soprano Patricia Caicedo, with who he has recorded a CD of Latin American Art Song and has featured in many radio and TV broadcasts like RNE clásica in Spain and CityTV in Bogota. Mr. Casan studied violin as well with the Royal Associated Board of Music of Oxford, and played with the IPSI orchestra for six years.
