Years before remote collaboration became commonplace, Patricia Caicedo was already pushing the boundaries of technology in music education. She developed a series of innovative projects that integrated second-generation Internet (Internet2) technologies into learning environments—well ahead of the digital transformation in the arts and academia.
At the Barcelona Festival of Song, Patricia implemented I2 technology in collaboration with institutions such as the I2Cat Foundation, Anella Cultural, and the Centro Cultural São Paulo. As early as 2012, 2013, and 2014, the festival hosted simultaneous concerts and masterclasses between Brazil and Barcelona, using high-speed networks to connect artists and audiences across continents in real time.
These visionary experiences not only anticipated the future of global music collaboration but also inspired Patricia’s research and writing on interactivity and the evolving skill set artists need to thrive in a world increasingly shaped by technology..
