Patricia Caicedo es una musicóloga pionera cuya extensa investigación y publicaciones la han consolidado como una de las principales autoridades en la canción artística latinoamericana e ibérica. Su libro fundamental, The Latin American Art Song: Sounds of the Imagined Nations, es un estudio innovador que explora la importancia cultural e histórica de este repertorio.

También es autora de la Latin American and Spanish Vocal Music Collection, una serie integral que ofrece a cantantes y docentes valiosos recursos para acceder a este repertorio frecuentemente ignorado. Además de sus libros, Patricia ha editado y publicado numerosos artículos académicos y ediciones de partituras que han contribuido significativamente a la descolonización de los estudios de música vocal, facilitando un mayor acceso y comprensión de estas obras.

A través de su labor, ha dado forma a todo un campo dentro de la musicología, elevando la canción artística latinoamericana e ibérica al reconocimiento internacional y asegurando su presencia en contextos académicos y escénicos a nivel global.
